Climo DOES support fish, but not as strongly as it did Irene becoming a fish.

Storms this far noth, before 45w, are usually fish. If someone has the time to post storms that were at this location it would be appreciated, Ive got to cut out for daughter's softball game.

anyone who called irene a fish to start off with was wrong...yall said fish well east of bermuda, and no one is giving those people any credit for the call, because yall were hundreds of miles off, its kind of like me saying a florida landfall but hits california, but with the fish call you can be right as long as it goes fish somewhere in the atlantic, so stop saying you called irene at the start because its misleading and move on

I went back and checked back to 1970.

I came up with 5 storms that formed really close to 15N 45W

1 moved wnw/nw and died shortly thereafter.

2 hit the Carolinas..and 2 recurved.

Bonnie and Floyd both hit the Carolinas.

Gustav and Emmy both recurved. Gustav at about 57W and Emmy at about 25N 65W...

Now, this does NOT take into account the storms that passed over TD10s current location that formed further east and south.

Since it's already moving NW that far out in the Atlantic, I have to lean toward FISH.

i remember you said fish at the start of irene, and i bet you, you thought well east of bermuda and i heard no one in the beginning say it would get anywhere as close to the us as it did, but if you thought at the start it would get as far west as it did, fine, but i doubt any one will believe you

Yes but you called fish just because it was your gut feeling and "climo". You simply got lucky. Not every storm will be a fish.

you have a MUCH higher chance of being right if you call every storm a fish because of the vast ocean it travels, it could turn at any moment....so anyone who called irene a fish at the start doesnt get any credit in my book because you were hundred of miles off from where yall first thought it would go fish

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

It will hit Auckland, New Zealand within 5-10 days as a cat 64 after merging with Extratropical storm Irene which will travel thousands of miles down south because it was friends with 9 while they were in Africa together and misses him :D

Just wanted to inject a little levity into the thread.

OK Scorpion.... quit bashing a fish prediction just because it's someone else's opinion and they might disagree with you. You are allowed to disagree with it, but don't bash it.

BTW I also say fish. It's moving northwest, and while the ridge may shove a little further west for a little while (big if right now though), I still think it will eventually recurve off of the east coast.

high pressure will be building above the storm preventing it from going out to sea, so I call "no fish"...

This will come closer to the United States than most think...but whether it is a "landlover" will have to be seen.
