The way things sounded from the 5pm Discussion..

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The way things sounded from the 5pm Discussion..

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

From what I got out of the 5pm Discussion, is that Irene is very likely already feeling the weakness in the ridge, and should move out to sea, although it will be moving slowly.

If I had to guess track, I think it's becoming likely something like this:::

My intensity guess is alot less than before:::

12 hours: 65 kt
24 hours: 65 kt
36 hours: 65 kt
48 hours: 65 kt
72 hours: 65 kt
96 hours: 55 kt
120 hours: 50 kt

Floydbuster, I respect your opinion and your postings. I hope you're right. Because I have the feeling that all the "wishers" who are wondering about a strong season and lot's of threatening hurricanes are about to get their wish.

Thanks again for all your work.

Yes. It's starting to look like we can relax regarding this one.

I don't think she'll get past about 72/73 degrees west, before curving
on out to sea.

I've eaten crow before...but it won't be on this one...unless she does something crazy and hits land. As I said a week ago...climo said fish.

not liking the WV imagery of the NW atlantic seems to be a small ridge sliding eastward off the coast and to the north of Irene i may be mistaken but does anyone else see this?
