As of now 5 models are off the carolinas

New england, fish, or florida now I still think NC but maybe a shift

The NOGAPS has been consistantly toward new england for the past day

NOGAPs goes out to sea, grazes the outer banks and passes south of Cape Cod on the recurve.

I'll go this way though the next 24-48 hours will be critical to determine where Irene strikes

The GFS doesn't develop the storm at all..keeps it as a wave...and shuffles it westward, then shoves the energy southwestward towards FL/Bahamas in a few days. It also builds a monster ridge, which is probably why its pushing the wave southwest after a few days of erratic movement.

Anyway...this run of the GFS shouldn't be considered for Irene at this point.

or the nogaps but just as a depression or less parts of southern new england could really use the rain!

The NHC thinks it will become a hurricane though

If current trends keep up its a shoe in for hurricane, with in the next 72 hours.

we'll have to see what it looks like tomorrow Matt. You may be right, but at least 3 nights this week I went to bed seeing lots of convection only to see an almost naked swirl the next day. It does look better than it's looked all week though, so perhaps you are right.

Any chance this will hit maine? all the water temps up here around maine are warmer then normal and it looks like the ukmet lines it right up to hit Maine!

6z GFDL shifted way west from it's 0z run.

Now we will have to watch for wobbles to the west. as it Will do this. I looked at the satellite's and seen it moving more like 285. But I just woke up so don't hold me to it. Give me a few hours of coffee
