Gulf of Mexico Tropical Summary - GUTS IN on August 10, 2005
<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/guts20050810.jpg">
I could spew yesterdays GUTS out and it would apply today as well.
The upper level low north of the Yucatan peninsula continues to foster
a drier environment in the SW GOM, while it brings in eastern Pacific
moisture across the Yucatan into the Southeast GOM. The result
will be more scattered showers and thunderstorms for south Florida.
The "I'm never leaving" weak low and associated trough persists
over the northern GOM. This system is not headed anywhere quick,
and will provide more showers and thunderstorms over southeast
Louisiana, south Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and the northern half of Florida.
I do not expect tropical cyclone development in the Gulf of Mexico
in the next 48-72 hours.

I have not taken time to look at the models, etc. What is holding the never gonna leave low in place? Our weather pattern doesn't seem that stagnant to me, at least not here in SE TX. Of course, after saying that I have to note that we have had a few days in a row of repeat downpours, so I may have just shot myself in the foot since there has seemed to be relatively stationary convergence zone over our area.

But I won't complain - haven't had to water the grass in a while!
That is for sure. We have had about 4" of rain this week already!!!
