Why don't you have Cat 4 or Cat 5 as options?

I wouldn't had imagined a Cat. 1 two days ago... now all of a sudden this has a real possibility of turning into a major.

Seems like we have another memorable 2005 storm in Irene (at least for its unpredictability).

I think she very well could make cat3 down the road...if and only if the conditions that COULD allow that to happen do indeed occur, ie...low shear and upper level conditions in place at the right time.

Let's give Irene a chance to develop before we say she's Andrew!

Ivanhater I read Dt's discussion and your right about it being disturbing. I value his opinion as among the best of the online mets but I hope he's wrong this time and she recurves.

The following post is NOT an official forecast and should not be used as such. It is just the opinion of the poster and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. It is NOT endorsed by any professional institution including storm2k.org For Official Information please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

If that very good met DT's prediction pans out,
For residents from SE florida up through the Carolinas and Virginia, all I can say is:
This could get serious in the next 3-5 days.
