WELL.....it's about time to refinance the HOUSE to fill up the cars now :grr: S.O.B.S...we hit "$2.50" a GALLON and prices are expected to KEEP CLIMBING.........say what you want, I know who is responsible for this OUTRAGE! and NO..it's NOT whom you think it is

One day it was $2.17 and the next day when I went into town it was $2.28.

We filled up on our way south for breakfast Sunday morning. On the way home a couple of hours later realized it had gone up two cents a gallon. Mind you -- Sunday morning- absolutely no way they got a gas shipment that morning -- no reason for it other than all other stations had gone up.

I can't say this is the case at the particular station you mentioned...

But generally they price gas based on what the next shipment is going to cost them, not what the previous shipment cost. There is a bit of playing around with prices to compare with other stations, but the most important factor by far is how much the next truckload will cost.

Most of your local gas stations are locally owned franchises. They are not generally owned by the oil company that they advertise for. In fact, much of the time they don't even sell gasoline from those companies.

In the Tampa area, for instance, almost all gas stations sell Citgo gas, regardless of the sign up front. That is because the Port of Tampa has a huge Citgo terminal, and that's where most of the trucks fill up.

LOL but it sure wreaks havoc with our Visa bill. We usually credit card swipe at the pump. I just need to stop using the CC for other purchases, and it will all even out.

One good effect of higher US gas prices (by world standards and by historical standards the prices are still quite low) is that people are considering more efficient automobiles.

Ask the people in Europe who pay ~$6-$8 per gallon. :D

As for what to do: drive fewer miles per person, buy a more fuel-efficient vehicle, and/or suck it up and pay for the fuel.

No but I definitely remember it being under a dollar a gallon when I got my driver's license.

I went this morning to get gas and I swear on Monday gas was only $2.28. Today it is $2.35 :x I think I will be taking a loan out before long.

It was 99 cents in Atlanta when I graduated from college... in 1999. :D

At the same time it was 69 cents in Oklahoma!

I drive my Mustang to work. My gas bill was 234 dollars for last month. This is getting ridiculous!! :grr:
