Moving SW? Huh? I don't see that from the NHC!

Thats a TAFB surface analysis forecast. TAFB/TPC/NHC all work in conjunction..they handle all the tropical stuff.

So they say Irene is going to be moving WSW under a strong ridge? Wouldnt that change the projected path significantly?

Thats gotta be an error. It would go against all model guidence and what the NHC has been stating all along.

Eh...not necessarily. That product may strictly be from the minds of the TAFB forecasters. Then you have the NHC guys..and they are all under the TPC, I think.

I think y'all may be reading the map wrong. It's not indicating any movement southwest, but perhaps a forecaster indicating a more southwest placement of the center of Irene on the automatically-analyzed map.

Yeah!
The map just did not make sense given NHC guidance that has it getting further North not South!
