House Fixed Finally
Almost a year after Charley we finally had our roof damage fixed and siding put back on today! Our problem was we had rips and tears that weren't worth their time up until now. Flashing bent back or missing and patches of siding gone from the second floor. The roof vent cap was finally replaced.

Great to hear things are good with your home Sanibel
I still have to fix a few tiles and some other minor damage from jeanne, but I'm in good shape right now
It's taking long just because it's hard to reach the tiles.
I am amazed though at how much damage a strong tropical storm can do. When Frances plowed through we had only TS winds but there was a lot of minor damage, even to the roof.
Of course this was nothing compared to charley, but it was certainly surprising.

Bite your tongue, Sanibel!!! Can you say NO MORE DONNA'S???
Of note, most of the members of this esteemed forum weren't born when Donna went roaring though SW FL
Lynn
P.S. Glad to hear you finally got your home finished. We were there shortly after the Causeway opened to check on client's homes and what a mess!!! Sanibel will never be the same without the canopy over Periwinkle.

GO FLORIDA GATORS
We're better off without that canopy. It only falls over the road during hurricanes and also takes down powerlines.
This mess of not being able to fix your house after a serious hurricane only shows that we are pushing beyond common sense and ability with growth.
The code should be concrete - period...

Sanibel-- Glad things are finally settling for y'all. We love Sanibel and Captiva! I didn't realize South Seas Plantation was still closed. Wow! We've stayed there and Sundial. Gosh-- it's probably been almost 10 years since we were there. But, I make key lime pie using a recipe from the Mucky Duck quite often! It's just paradise down there, but I imagine it has changed quite a bit since bad ol' Charley did his renovating.

Ugh. Bad word. Donna would not be good for where I live either.
And now that the development in what would be the path of Donna has grown some billion percent, the devestation would be mind boggling.

Captiva ...... my husband's and my favorite place. We got married on a balcony at Land's End on South Seas, overlooking Redfish Pass on a stormy June evening. We vacationed there five times, I think.
We were so sad to see pictures of the damage there last year. Reeeeally can't imagine the road to the resort without driving through that tunnel of green.
