IMO, if they maintain their current separation, about 1200 miles, development of the second wave should not be adversely affected. the only caveat to that would be irene deepened rapidly, in the short term. in that case, outflow could be a problem. it doesnt appear that rapid development is in the offing. all things being equal, the threshold for interaction is 600-700 mi with that neat little fujiwharra dance

If you look at the new wave behind TD 9 you can see that it is very healthy and is also very large. This one might become our Irene.

It is so rare that any of these waves form into anything, TD9 was suppossed to be the second coming and it has fizzled somewhat and now its "well look right behind it". Eventually one will form, but it has less than a 10% chance of developing.
