Poll: How strong will TD 9 become

#1 Postby Jim Cantore » Thu Aug 04, 2005 7:14 pm

TD 9 is born and healthy but how strong do you think it will be?

I'm going to say Cat 3 it's early still in the season so cat 3 would be a strong storm to come out of it

I'm sure you meant to say "low end" or "borderline" 4. Absolutely, positively no such thing as a "weak" 4. :)

Where were you for Dennis and Emily?

Anyway, I still voted a Cat. 2... Why? Just because it felt right.

The majority think this will be a cat 4?

What indications is it giving off..that this thing will explode and become a monster cane?

Once we clear the SAL/dry air problems which can be common early on, the environment is very favorable. We've already had two cat 4s almost cat 5s in July, there is no reason not to think this couldn't be a cat 4. Lots of warm water and time.

As long as she stays on her westward movement, she has nothing but running room. I would have said Cat 5 but will go with a 4. Initially, if all plays out the way I think it will, I feel that we are looking at a Florida landing.

This has nothing to do with the actual storm, but my original guess for the name Irene for this year was a maximum of 145mph winds. So, naturally I chose the Cat. 4 option.
