the stronger is gets the more likely it is to recurve

thats been true alot since 1995

last year though (minus Karl) Ignored that completely

The beta effect is a cosequence of the fact that the Coriolis effect increases with latitude, and the interacion of a vortex with that gradient.

The net effect is that cyclones in the northern hemisphere will tend to move northwest absent other steering.

Sanibel and other S Floridians are sure to remember 1999's TS Irene. Passing Key West, the center sorta jumped eastward. Fubar scenario -- schools and businesses start closing around noon and send everyone in Dade and Broward driving home in TS winds and rain.

Hope this one doesn't become more memorable.
