Northern GOM
I guess I'll be the one to start today thread on the T-storms in the northern gulf . Today's radar fairly clearly shows a rotation of the T-storms south of the Miss. coast and there seems to more popcorn convention all along the old trough.
The shear in this area has weaken somewhat and IMHO it's got a decent chance at development over the next 2 days

I agree the area does have a chance to develop.

The outflows have moved alot further southward out into the Gulf as clearly seen on this visible loop. If convection can build out there and sustain it could stand a chance, but right now the low clearly seen by the rotation over the panhandle is just to close to land in proximity, if this area had been 50-100 miles further south we would probably already be looking at TC formation.

Yep, I posted last week and I'll post again, I don't think anything will develop near that low near Mobile. If anything happens it will be in the central GOM. Of course, been waiting for this for a week now and nothing wants to gel...but the old trough/outflows are still there, so until that goes away, the area will have to be watched.

No rain has made it out here from the mainland for over 2 weeks now even though they've had heavy convection storms. This is telling you the tradewinds are weak unlike last year.
We had clear skies last night and you could see the milky way. Just a few days before the SAL and humidity were thick.
Even the ocean water was clear. It usually isn't.
