Nice moisture surge northward at the CV islands. No surprise that the convection has returned to that area

How does the SAL compare to this time last year?

was it heavier at this stage last year or less intense

check out this 5-day movie of the SAL:

You can see the SAL lifting up and pressing/dissipating westward. Looks like it's opening the door for the parade of present and future waves.
