Most exciting weather event to hit your town recently?

Mine had to be the Christmas Day snowfall last year. Who would of ever thought a white Christmas 60 miles south of New Orleans? And it snowed heavily most of the day. I got so emotional I almost cried when it came down. So beautiful. We got over an inch on the ground at my house. I could not believe that I had a dream in September that it would snow in my area on Christmas Day and it actually came true!

Cajungal, I agree. Who would've thought my first white Christmas would be in South Louisiana! My parents in Lockport got a nice ice storm instead of snow. They lost power for a few hours and didn't get it restored till xmas night. When we got there that night, there was a good 2" of ice covering everything.

A couple weeks ago I drove across the state and it rained several inches along the way. Visibility became about 35 or 40 feet and I ended up pulling over and waiting for it to pass. Pretty intense.

That was incredible. It sleeted & snowed here from the morning until close to dark. Everyone agreed it was a prime Christmas. Of course I was up on S2K watching charts until 5 am-ish. I learned that models don't have a good handle on distribution of frozen precipitation from a low tracking ENE in the Gulf.

Close second goes to Tropical Storm Cindy which threw a lot more at me than I expected. I enjoyed every raindrop that fell July 5th.

Honorable Mention goes to wife working all the nights during Dennis' climb through the Gufl along with my kids being tucked safely away in Alexandria, LA.

But since we've got a long storm season ahead, maybe there's a chance for some more excitement.

I didn't get that much in my neck of the woods, but the story here has been a very wet June, almost nothing in July ( at least here in Brevard County ) and as soon as August 1st arrives, it starts raining! Kind of strange.

It seems as though the only noteworthy weather I've seen in years here in Miami has been the outer bands from Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, and Dennis.

I still maintain that that initial band that came through on the NE side of Charley as he crossed Cuba that night was the most impressive squall line that came out of all those five. It came on fast (I think it was moving at 40-45 mph), and there was a LOT of lightning associated with that band. I remember staying up late that night, waiting for it to roll through.

we had a pretty exciting electrical storm here on Saturday. I havent seen that much lightning in some time. And the sky was that really spooky midnight blue....

Ours here in Northeast tampa area had to be a ore recent super cell thunderstorm. We received 4 inches of rain in 1.2 hours Everything was flooded. Had to turn around 4 times on my way home from work due to roads under 1-2 feet of water and raging rivers on downhill roads. Never see so much rain or lightning all at once. The storm stalled over our area for near 2 hours and it just formed and grew well over east pasco county. It was pretty cool.

Just about the daily torrential rain... according to a radio station here, we've had 46 INCHES of rain so far this year... If that's true(and I don't think it's too far off), we're already 10-12 inches above the normal for the YEAR and we still have 5 months left...

we had an incredible downpour from the monsoon last night - 2.6 inches in 45 minutes. we also had wind gusts to 60 mph!

WX here has been boring since last Sept with the landfalls of Frances and Jeanne directly over my house...I spent 9 hours in the eyes of hurricanes last year...Thats a pretty remarkable WX story for your home town I would think...

Wasn't here for the snow. I was up north where there SHOULD HAVE BEEN snow! I only got to see the melting remnants when I got back after Christmas.

I'd say that Mother's Day storm that blew through here was pretty intense also.

Last week we had a cool front come through that dropped highs into the 80's for 2 days. And there was some rain too. In NTX, this is exciting weather for summer.

Although it was almost two years ago, a severe windstorm affected certain regions of Seattle, WA back in October of 2003. The storm lasted about three hours...winds went from 10-15mph to 60+ mph within 15 minutes...stayed that way with gusts in excess of 75mph for two hours...and then 15 minutes later eased to 15mph once again. We lost power for almost 15 hours and trees were ALL OVER THE PLACE. There was minor damage done to fences and patio furniture, but nothing too substantial. What made that storm so memorable was how quick it came and went...and its overall velocity. I think we had a peak wind gust of 81 mph.
