I 100 percent agree. Barrier islands are not stable enough to build on. They fall into the sea then come back then back again. People need not build on them. Also houses on the coast line should be made out of brick or cement/Steal. In the code needs to be rised to hold up to 180 mph winds at least.

I agree, and they even build as close to the shore as the codes will let them. It just doesn't make any sense. I guess local governments like the fact that the properties are so expensive which means the taxes are very high as well.
