I suggest we all start pouring ice into the waters of the GOM, with the salt content and a little alcohol we could have some big margarittas.

 about methane balls in a hot car in Wal-Mart from kids. And yes lets bring a giant iceberg and put it in the Gulf so it will cool down temps. Maybe I can talk dh and some of his fishing buddies to help. :D

For what its worth, I stumbled across an interesting piece of information last week. It was from climate archives for Jackson, MS regarding record high temperatures. The year was 1969 and apparently Jackson set record highs for about 11 straight days. This would indicate record or near record highs for surrounding areas, including coastal counties. There seems to be no data regarding Gulf water temps then, but one would guess they were unusually high that year also, at least in the northern Gulf. I can only speculate on how this contributed to a storm like Camille, but this year we saw record highs again. We are seeing very high Gulf water temperatures early on. I'm not sure this data implies anything in particular, but I found the data interesting.

That is interesting. I wonder if my dad would remember if the Gulf was very warm that year. He did a lot of fishing back in 69.

Opps...I can see it now. I tell my husband that I have a favor out of him and his fishing buddies while they are deep sea fishing. While you are going out why don't you hook this big ice berg to the pack and tow it out with you to cool off the Gulf Waters. He might admit me to Searcy or the Harbor for sure!

Now you are not going to tell me that you are that old. Not that I am saying that you are old. I better shut up before I get my foot further in my mouth.
