Some sad news....
I have some sad news to tell. Today my wife took our cat to the vets. As I told you last night we knew she was sick. My wife called and told me that the vet said Tigger was dying and she could not be cured. She had fluid in her belly and was in so much pain. My wife made the tough decision to let them put her to sleep. I think that was the hardest decision she had to make. Tigger is not in pain and suffering anymore. The vet said she had some disease called fip a feline version of cromes disease. She must had it for a while. Her stomach was swelled. So they ended her suffering. They said she might have only a couple of weeks left to live. So we miss her!!!!

I am so sorry. My mom put our Yorkie Lacey to sleep June 30th of this year. She was 13 years old and had chronic kidney failure. We got her when she was only 6 wks old. I miss her so much and I would do anything to have her back. Pain free, of course. It makes a month tomorrow and I am still grieving. Almost every night I end of having a dream about her.

I am truly sorry for your loss. I know the pain of losing a pet. Prayers to you all..............

Sorry, Bud. Loosing a pet is tough stuff. I have not had to go through it yet; still my almost 5 year old golden retriever still has some "puppy" in her. But I have a feeling that it will be a very sad day when she goes, too. I have not been able to handle close family members or teachers passing on very well either.

Bud,
I am so sorry to hear the very sad news. I'm sure your wife was hopeful your daughter's cat could be helped. That is so sad. Sometimes it just happens this way, so quickly, you just don't have time to prepare for the outcome.
If it's any comfort, her cat isn't suffering anymore. And you all gave her a wonderful home for the time you had her.
Thinking of you all.....putting a pet down is never an easy decision.

so sorry for your loss! One of the best ways to deal with a loss is get another kitty in the meantime. It won't replace tigger, but it will soothe the pain, and at least you'll have another animal to hold whenever you think of tigger.
When my cat dies, I'll probably get another kitty the same week... Since he's my only cat, I think that's the best choice for me.

Bud,
yea, it's easy to feel guilt when making the decision to put your pet to sleep, but 9 out of 10 times, it's for the better. Putting your pet down was a very UN-selfish act. Had you not put your cat down, it would only be because you didn't want to deal with the pain of having it gone and missing it, which in my opinion would be selfish. So you and your wife were looking for the best interest of your pet when you did so. The pain will ease in time. Are ya going to get another kitten?
Just remember, there are tons of homless pets in the world and due to your kindness, you provided a home for your pet. I bet your cat thought it hit the jackpot when it came to live with you.
Everytime my parents lose a pet they say they will never get another one, because they don't want to go through the pain again, but they always change their mind
. The years and years of having a pet and providing it a good home is worth the temporary pain of having to lose that pet someday..
take care

We will give it some time to grieve the loss of Tigger, and most likely will get another kitten. It was like I told her WE CAN NEVER REPLACE TIGGER!!! She was one of a kind and we loved her. She had took Tiggers death really hard. I think she has cried for two days. I know that our daughter wants another cat. We will eventually will go to the animal shelter to adopt a kitten.

Glad you are going to get one from the animal shelter!...I do the same thing. I'm hoping when I get my kitten that it's a kitten by itself. I remember when I got my current cat(maui). He was with another kitten. I couldn't take two, so I had to just take one. It broke my heart to leave the other one there. I'm hoping someone took him as he was adorable too!!
and you are right, no animal can REPLACE the one you had, BUT it does take your mind off of the pain a bit. Tigger will always have his individual personality that made him so loved by your too, but I'm sure your new kitten will display a few things that will remind you of Tigger.
One thing though, I don't think I could ever be in the same room where they were putting my cat down in. I'm a wimp that way. I'd probably just hand them my cat after I've spent some time with him, talking to him etc, and then leave the room.
I know that if I went into the room with the cat while they were putting him under, I'd have nightmares for days with that image being etched into my mind, and I don't want that.
