See It comin...

#1 Postby DESTRUCTION5 » Thu Jul 28, 2005 1:03 pm

I say maybe tommorow night this will go depression or TS...This will lead to a "offical track" to be made with the 3 and 5 day forecasts putting FL in the cone with maybe a Cat 1-2 heading twd S FL....and the Fun will begin...IMO now unlike yesterday this thing will go....and it could go fast!

Well, Florida's ready this year, to say the least. People now understand why it's important to run instead of hide.

I don't think so! We left twice last year and when we came back there was not even a scratch on our windows. We are staying here for the next one unless it's a Cat 4 or 5.

Does west central Florida in your opinion need to keep a watch on "92L"?

This thing has surprised me. I think it has real chances now. When Recon gets in there, I think they will likely find a TD, possibly a TS. The question is how strong and where.... Islanders, Floridians, stay safe.

The most a cat 2 or 3 will do is take the shingles off your roof if your roof is older then 10 or 15 years or if you are living on a barrier island. No big deal.

No. We went through Frances an Jeanne last year in Hobe Sound. Both times we left and both times we came back and there was no damage. Our condo asocc. just replaced our roofs a few years back. Trees were blown down but they were non native trees anyway. The evac. was more danger than the storm!

I hope your kidding!!!
Frances & Jeanne tore up my fence, ripped shingles off my roof,
no power for weeks, and cost me alot of $$$! Big friggen deal in my book! I will admit the winds and going through 2 eyes was cool, but not worth the hassle afterwards!!!!!

I have friends that live in Hobe Hills who were living in a FEMA trailor until 2/2005, w/ 3 kids. Back half of roof collapsed during Jeanne. Drive around Pettway & Banner Lake and ask if the storm was no big deal! Wasn't just beach & condo homes that were affected.

I'm -removed- this one far away. Been waiting to get those shutters and I'll be really annoyed if instead of getting them on Monday, we get a hurricane.

Roofs have to be replaced in Florida every 10 years. If people spent their money on booze, cars and movies instead of their roofs, not my fault. When i was in the army just in basics spent two weeks living in a ditch, so what is the big deal about two weeks out of power?

The big deal is children and elderly people, to name a few, are not prepared to live in those kinds of conditions. Not only that, most of the rest of us are not either, even if we do "prepare" for it. It gets mighty hot in Florida, as you well know, and not everyone can tolerate those kinds of conditions "in the natural." Also, a loss of power can lead to serious financial losses for big business, which can equal job losses and cuts, and I imagine there are more than a few self employed individuals who suffered greatly due to only the power losses, not to mention all the other hassels associated with Jeanne and Frances. Some people live out of their freezer, I should add, and losing hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of food is a big deal for almost anyone.

look it doesnt matter how powerful a hurricane is at landfall, all that matters is the safety of all those in its path. There is no need to play a superhero and think you can outsmart or outpower a tropical system. Tropical Storm Allison in 2001 was just a tropical storm but the good folks in Houston have something to say about that.

Well they should be. Because God set those conditions. Man made up all the rest!
