92L is organized but convection is limited to approximately two thunderstorms

93L is behind it and is looking okay...

93L actually has less convection than 92L and no surface circ. I'm a bit mystified as to why are continually saying it's better organized than 92L.

The wave behind 93L, south of the Cape Verdes, is actually FAR more impressive than 93L. However, beind that wave south of the Cape Verdes, there doesn't appear to be anything of note about to come off Africa.

I think this weekend will be a no-sleep one again. There just seems to be too much talk about all the possibilities for Gommers! -and we are at least 5 days away from anything if anything even develops!

I need to watch these then. We take care of two condos down in Orange Beach for relatives and we are the one responsible for them during the storms. It is so much fun trying to get them prepare and our house. Just imagine two nutty people running around like they have their heads cut off trying to figure out what to do next.

I dunno about you guys but I actually managed to pull out 2 straight days of very nice sleep and tonight will be no exception so I will be fully recharged to take on whatever 92L will throw at us.

Sleep in? Well my girls would never let me do that. If I get to sleep till 7am one of them will jump in the room and start bouncing on the bed until I get up.

I'll be watching it too, but right now most interested in what happens with leftover piece of trough in GOM over the weekend...that was how A---- started....

And what 3 ft of rain? (Ok maybe not that much). We were in Baton Rouge then and we got record rains from her too(East side and she stalled if I remember)

I actually drove from Dallas to Orlando that week (I-20 to I-49 to I-10) and I remember Baton Rouge also got nailed.

The Lafayette area got nailed good too. I believe some areas received 20" of rain in about two days...needless to say there were alot of flooding problems.

Y'all talking about Frances circa September 1998? That was insane. We were having a big baby shower here at the office and the training bands set up right overhead. We got some ridiculous amount of rain that flooded all of downtown and every way out. I got as far as North Broad and Canal St. and grabbed the last available parking spot on the neutral ground (aka "the median"). I was stuck there for about 4 hours :( and missed the storm. Needless to say, people didn't forget that one and evauated en masse for Hurricane Georges a week or so later.

Edit: Alic__, never mind.

Some models picking up on the possibility of gulf formation next week now. MM5 seems to be showing this the strongest. (doesn't it always!)

Has Joe B elaborated thsi morning yet on what he thinks?

Also, the waves (92 & 93) haven't developed much more overnight. This tends to lean less towards recurves as long as they stay weak and take their time developing. By the time they get their act together, the ridge may be building back in.

I still think Gommers need to keep a lookout!
