I give this one 48 hours. Then it's rocking and rolling. I can not beleive this season. We could possibly have 8 or 9 named storms before July is over with.

Not the reaction I wanted to see from you Brent. Just makes us Floridians feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Or is that because the plywood on the windows keeps the heat in all day.....

Nope, no way, not a chance.

Of course in May it was, there's no way two Cat 4's would form in July.....

I have been thinking... which can be a problem :) We have only had data on seasons for , what a hundred years or so. What if this is a 'normal' season. Scary.

That's been my contention all season. What if this is a repeat of a 500 or 1000 year cycle.

The implications are mind numbing.

Its normal. The last 10 years 1995 to this year has been on a active cyle of tropical activety. Last year had 15 with most of those landing with from August 1st to October 1st.

1933 had 21 named storms
1887 had 19 named storms
1969 had 18 named storms
1995 had 19 named storms

This is not a rare event at all. Lets see how active it can be??? When it gets above 20 named storms this season then it will start to be a little rare.

well to figure tht out we'd have to wait 500 to 1000 years

I doubt it. If this season is like 1933 then it is possibly a 50 to 100 year cycle. We were possibly even overdue for this!

Also that system that moved off the African coast looks good to.

So we got 92L starting to show some signs of curving/pop up convection. Like Emily/Dennis or even Franklins wave watch it down the road.

93L Forming some convection over its center. Nice outflow in has shown signs of developing. Looks kind of like Isabel. I expect this to develop in become the first Cape verde.

Soon to be 94L off the African coast looks very good. Expect development with that to. Can we expect what we seen durnign 1995. Which was a line of storms? Could be.

Not trying to go off topic here and not trying to offend anyone here...

Is it just me, or is it that Tropicswatcher's avatar is a little big?

OK back on topic...

It looks like to me that 93L is developing a LLC, some rotation, wouldn't be surprised to see a TD sometime tomorrow. The good thing though is because of its high latitude I think it's going to be a fish.

EDIT: Never mind...it's not at a high latitude, Allen (1980) formed at about the same latitude and it went thru the Caribbean.

EDIT 2: Looks like Tropicswatcher has an avatar that changes every few minutes, anyway back to good size, ignore the first part of my post.
