I did the same thing last week when this was posted.

I thought the same thing about the icons too..

I made a folder on the desktop and stuffed everything in there..I guess I need to take some time to clean out all the junk I don't use though ;-}

I went into the ftp server and downloaded the 6MP version of the image, photoshopped it a little and then cropped it to my 1280x1024 background size, if anyone wants a bit more resolution for their bg....

The nasa version is here:

It is infact compressed alot, only 200KB. Still alot of available resloution. You may want to open it in photoshop and do some adjustments on it, clone out the dust specs on the sensor, etc if you can. The dust is showing up because nasa is probably using a very small aperture to get a hyperfocal DOF.

A little note... if you are on Windows XP, right click on empty desktop space, goto "Arrange Icons By" and then look down 3rd from the bottom. There should be an option to show/hide all of your desktop icons in one click. This is what I use to hide my icons most of the time so I get to see that big pretty background :D

It's images like those that initially got me interested in hurricanes. Not the fancy information, statistics, etc... It's pictures like those. Wow. :eek:
