I wonder if Gert/Bret/other weak/short-lived systems would have been named (or designated Alpha, Charley, etc) before the satellite age. And the hurricane hunters were obviously not around before WWII.
If we get a "record" year for 2005 with the same number of storms like 1933, is this really accurate? Just wondering what everyone thought.
