Haven't noticed it in Naples yet. They said to expect it on Tuesday. I'm assuming that it will have no effect on the space shuttle launch. I've never heard of it mucking up plane engines or the like, so they should be good to go as far as SAL is concerned.

Given that there are no air intakes for the solid rocket boosters or the shuttle main engines (liquid hydrogen & oxygen in the tank), that's probably not a threat for the engines.

BUT, they do prefer a high level of visibility for launches, so there may be a delay of this gets there by tomorrow.

I hope they can return to space - we *need* to get the program rolling again!

I agree, Dave. I am really excited about the launch and hope to be able to see the trailer at least if the clouds aren't too heavy. Sometimes we can even see the sun glint off of the shuttle all the way in SW FL. I'm like a little kid when it comes to the space program.

That shows it still far enough away that we probably won't be too effexted until tomorrow

Ok I finally have to admit my ignorance. Usually I can wait around for someone to ask before me, but since no one has yet I'll ask: What does SAL stand for? I know it has to do with the dust storm over the Atlantic originating in Africa. But someone please spell it out for me! :?:

I hope ol' SAL doesn't carry in a load of baby spiders on their little hatchling 'chutes. Let 'em land, molt a few times, then  hello, roomie! Sleep tight, everybody.

The housecat - built for search & destroy - baby spidey don't see 'em or hear 'em , man.
