Does anyone have a comparison of the earliest named storm records set this year and what year they surpassed? In other words, we've got a record for the earliest 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th named storms this year (I believe)...what records did each of those storms break?

They didn't break the records. Mtm4319, in 1954, the second Hurricane Alice formed on Dec. 30th, but it wasn't discovered until January of 1955.

Interesting how two storms formed in May in 1887.
And no, I don't think there has been a TC that lasted from late Dec-New year's Day. That would be pretty cool though.

It is slightly different from the data above, because this data only reflects the date that the storm reached tropical storm status whereas the above data reflects when the tropical storm first developed into a depression. Therefore, this should be more appropriate.
