LOCATION - 7.9N 92.1E - NICOBAR ISLANDS, INDIA

EVALUATION
BASED ON LOCATION AND MAGNITUDE THE EARTHQUAKE WAS NOT SUFFICIENT TO GENERATE A TSUNAMI DAMAGING TO CALIFORNIA - OREGON - WASHINGTON - BRITISH COLUMBIA OR ALASKA. SOME AREAS MAY EXPERIENCE SMALL SEA LEVEL CHANGES. IN AREAS OF INTENSE SHAKING LOCALLY GENERATED TSUNAMIS CAN BE TRIGGERED BY SLUMPING.
THE PACIFIC TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER WILL ISSUE TSUNAMI BULLETINS FOR HAWAII AND OTHER AREAS OF THE PACIFIC.
THIS WILL BE THE ONLY BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THIS EVENT BY THE WEST COAST AND ALASKA TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER UNLESS CONDITIONS WARRANT. REFER TO THE INTERNET SITE WCATWC.ARH.NOAA.GOV FOR MORE INFORMATION. $$

I don't think we will be seeing a tsunami anytime soon and to see one so devastating you would have to have a stronger earthquake so I'm happy it didnt cause anything. Although they should not resort to tsunami warnings so often. In a while after people see that they keep going to higher ground and no tsunami comes they might think next time there won't be a tsunami either and will stay...then again they have to give a warning if they think a tsunami is possible, and if I was there I certainly would evacuate but you don't know about other people. Just a thought...
