This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Are these Hurricanes related to Earthquake?

#1 Postby JamesFromMaine2 » Fri Jul 22, 2005 12:21 pm

Last night in the NHCWX TeamSpeak we were all talking and wondering if maybe somehow all these Hurricanes now were related to the Earthquake in December? if any one has any insight into this please let us know! lol My personal feeling is that it could since the earthquake changed the rotation of the earth a little and rearanged some islands.

you guys cannot scientifically rule it out, since this was one of the biggest eq in recorded history. We do not have records reflecting what eq's and earth rotations do to the climo. If the eq in december moved islands and shook for 8 minutes and sped things up, you cannot possibly tell me or for that matter others that it has no effect. And I dare you to show me otherwise..

p.s. quick response is that there is no evidence showing this. So, it may have some impact..

I can not scientifically rule out that aliens faked Kirt Cobain's death, kidnapped him off to some alien planet, and are drinking martinis with him while listening to Gwen Stafani's new single about BANANAS.

Anything's possible.

Agree, but is also impossible to prove that the earthquakes cause this early artivity.

Frivolous speculation on something you yourself have failed to provide any specific causal relationship for.

If the earth is in a warming spurt that affected the crust would be pure speculation, but, even if it were directly related, would have almost zero relationship to cyclone mechanics or investigation...

If I remember correctly right after that earthquake they were saying that they were unsure how it would affect diffrent things and would have to research just how much of an impact it had. It was just a question I had and I don't feel there was any need to respond to it with some of the comments people did! I am new and just learning and if this is the way people treat new members then lets just say I want nothing to do with this board! and I won't be recommending it to any one else!

Come on people, chill.

James is a new member who found Storm2k through NHCWX. They were talking about this last night so he brought it up as a possible discussion. He didn't state it as FACT! If you don't want to talk about it, move along.

If you're going to try and run off new members, just refrain from posting. James is a nice person and has caused NO trouble whatsoever.

I'm sorry James...don't let a few people run you off. We're generally a very friendly board.

The above is so true, James. I'm mad too at what this thread turned into :grr: :grr: so I can understand how you're feeling but don't let it color your view of the whole board.
