Emily is making her presense felt. Just north of I-10 and the Ship channel we are experiencing horizontal heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning.

Just got a report from another coworker -- Texas City has closed their flood gates.

There's usually not lightening in the eyewall (and you usually couldn't here the thunder over the winds if there was)...but you can have it in the feeder bands...especially when they move on shore and are combined with daytime heating. Lots of thunder around here today.

We're far from the hurricane itself. But yes, we are talking about Emily. Her northernmost rain bands are hitting up here. Nothing severe or anything -- just nice to have rain. :)

As far as flooding goes, like Pat said, I think it has more to do with the tides.

Just got back from Surfside beach.. The "surfers" have taken over since there are actually waves ride.

Somewhat breezy and the waves are slowly moving up the beach. Does not take much to flood here anymore, but looks to be fine for BW Hwy.
