I think of Berkley Breathed, creator of Bloom County the comic strip. Remember Bill the Cat? Ack Ack.
Actually I think of Berkley as being a top drawer school.
Have a bet to settle and I need YOUR help!

Burke Breathed
If you want to get really picky, it's Berkeley "Berke" Breathed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berke_Breathed and http://www.berkeleybreathed.com/pages/index.asp
And man, I sure do miss Opus. And The Far Side. And Calvin and Hobbes. Where have all the good cartoons gone?

Hmmmmmmm...... several things come to mind to describe the population of Berkley and it's practices: pseudo-intellectual, radical left-wing, herb-using, politically correct police state, intolerant of thought and speech that does not conform to left wing idealogy, liberal indoctrination, rabble rousers, practitioners of revisionist history (and current events for that matter). No doubt I'll think of a few more as soon as I hit the submit button.

Doesn't your local paper get his new strip, "Opus"? Been around for a couple years now. It's essentially turned into Bloom County III, much like Outland became Bloom County II.

If it does, I don't know because I don't take the local paper. I read it online...much to the chagrin of my pal who works there

Oh, yes...a random-sampling poll (U.S. News and World Report) of incoming freshmen at Berkeley showed an alarming surfeit of basic knowledge of U.S./World history, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and even the Constitution. Under such appalling conditions (thanks to K-12), these feckless young people are open to anything their profs dish out.
However, these same kids performed beautifully in math-science endeavors. Ah, the making of "worker drones for the grist mills" is coming along nicely. Thank you, Aldous Huxley.
