How this storm was so close...if not actually a cat 5 storm at times.....only gave the northen most yucatan hurricane force winds, as you can tell from this map.....that is the only land area that recieved hurricane winds...amazing considering how powerful it was.....but very compact.

Indeed. It was just shy of Cat 5 something we would probably never see again, at least not for a very loooooong time.

I love tracking hurricanes as much as the next person, but I HOPE we don't see any more majors threaten land this year...woulnd't mind a boat load of fish storms though. Kids go back to school August 2nd (That is if my daughters high school can be repaired in time). Many repairs needed to classrooms and the roof was ripped off in places also. Its her senior year this year...she would like to get through it with NO more storms. But Its not just our area of the gulf coast that I hold out hope for no majors making landfall, its for everyone.
