Damage pictures?
Have there been any pictures yet? It's getting close to or already is daylight down there so there should be a few prelim shots that the newsies will uplink instantly to give us an idea of what happened.

It doesn't look like there are too many lights on right now...if I'm looking at the map right, the two brightest lights would be Cancun on the east coast and Merida on the west...

agreed they just cannot see how bad it is!! I am sure future tourism also has alot to do with it.

I'm just concerned that there is no report yet on stormcarib.com or on the blog that is on another thread from Cozumel. So until I hear something to the contrary that is factual (from people I know there or in contact with people there), I can't believe that it was a light hit...and hope I'm really wrong.

I am sure as the day progress more information will be found. Some media outlets have people in the area apart from stormcarib reports so let's wait for them.

I have stayed in Playa del Carmen, and I know that there must be some damage to hotel and resort property along that coast. And heck, there is a Senor Frogs restaurant there that is on a pier to the ferry over to Cozumel. No way did they get off without damage.
And the Xel-Ha inland water sports park is just onshore and home to a ton of snorkeling and swimming activities. It is not so well constructed nor invulnerable to tidal surge that it would go unharmed.
Tulum itself is rock ruins....that could easily have stood the test and is up above water level.
The town of Playa del Carmen has a lot of shanties for the Mayan culture people there. No way were they spared any damage either.
I think we will see and hear of at least some damage in that resort town.
