Possible Tornado Outbreak on the east coast this weekend

#1 Postby VAWXWatcher6 » Thu May 08, 2003 7:51 am

I see the possibly of a tornado outbreak on the east coast this weekend with some of the left over from the possible big tornado outbreak out in the mid-west and ohio vellay. I don't usally talk about this kind of a event this far off but this is something we have to watch. (PA south to GA has the best chance of tornados as i see it today) I am no pro so i am just telling what i am thanking about this.

TORNADO/SEVERE WX

#3 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Fri May 09, 2003 6:43 am

There maybe an isolated tornado. But due to the linear nature of the convection, in other words the storms are in the form of a squall line, looks more like widespread straightline wind damage. Still could be as bad as seeing a tornado though.

Finally Monday into Tuesday we can rest for a bit before the next storm hits the plains on Wednesday and or Thursday with more severe thunderstorms possible.

You are right about the straight line winds is more of a chance know than tornadoes, i really happy to see that becuse don't need any of those tornadoes around here. I got hail yesterday and east of me a tornado touch down but no damage...

I would not be surprised to see multiple reports of tornados in the mid-Atlantic region from late Saturday through Sunday. Residents of PA, NJ, DE, MD, DC, VA, NC, SC and northern GA should definitely be prepared for severe weather!
