Describe yourself-Are you nice or mean?
I've been meaning to post this for a while now but I'm just curious as to:
1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - I'm easygoing and pleasant to a fault. I really need to crack down on my employees at work. However, in person to person contact, I am always pleasant and never explode on anybody.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?- Very very, extremely happy. I give respect more than I get it.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- Humor is good and I can't think of any time that it is bad.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?- Really angry is seeing other people unfairly treated. Sad is seeing innocent lives taken like what happened in London? Happy is time spent with family and friends around a bonfire or around the table for a quiet supper.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? - THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY. I did not e-mail people I e-mail without a purpose. I think not replying is very rude indeed.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- Judging from most members on this board, I think a lot of you goof around but at the same time are very very responsible, which is exactly the way to be.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? - I am shy at first but want to be friends with them.
Well, that's about it. I eagerly await some responses.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - Depends on the person and/or situation.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it? Not too happy, but I live with it; I have respect for others unless that courtesy is violated.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life? Ask anyone...I can be funny, or deadly serious.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy? Too many questions w/o qualifiers.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? If it's pertinent to me, I answer; I don't respond to most "chain letters", spam, etc.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- Very little.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? "Shield up, sword at the ready"...cautiously... until comfortable with them.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? *** I try to be pleasant, but i'm not always easygoing, at all. I can be pretty paranoid about certain things in life. However, i'm not strict in the slightest, and there are times that I believe i'm more fair than I should be...
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it? *** I'm always happy with my life. I've never had thoughts about ending it or any of the such, though i'm surrounded by many who do. But that's ok! Life's always worth living.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life? *** Sexual. Come on, i'm a teenage guy.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy? *** Really angry... My Dad. No more to say about that. Sad and Happy go together. Those who have the most power to make you happy, have the most power to hurt you. My girlfriend. I love her, but she can drive me nuts sometimes.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? *** I ALWAYS reply, and when someone doesn't reply to me, yes, it's quite distressing.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics *** Plenty, as long as it's safe. But i'm not into the whole teenage sex life... Yada yada.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? *** With my best qualities in front of me. For sure.[/b]

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - I'm pretty easygoing, but sometimes I can be demanding when I know someone should know better than to act the way they are or something.. But overall pleasant.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?- Yes, I'm happy. I have more than I could ask for- a wonderful husband, a house, a career I love, the cutest dog in the world...
I give any respect that is due.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- I have a pretty sarcastic sense of humor. I'm not the biggest fan of humor in dark times because if I'm going through something hard, I don't want to mask the true emotion with humor, only to be repressed and never truly dealt with.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?- I get really angry when I see people mistreating animals or people. I get really sad when I see elderly people lose their life-long mate (that scene from The Notebook breaks my heart when they are dancing and she forgets who her husband is) And it doesn't take much to make me happy. Today I'm happy because I have the new Harry Potter book!
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? -I may not reply right away if I don't feel like talking at the moment, but I'll always give a reply eventually.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- There is a time and place for everything. If someone is goofing around when they clearly shouldn't be, I have very little tolerance. But when it's appropriate, no problem.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? - I am quiet and shy at first but slowly become more comfortable.

Easy going, pleasant and fair.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?
I'm happy with my life. I respect others...even though they may not always return respect.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?
I enjoy humor very much...it helps you get through life alot!
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?
Really angry is seeing other people unfairly treated. Sad is seeing innocent lives taken like what happened in London? Happy is time spent with family and friends around a bonfire or around the table for a quiet supper.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it?
If it is a forward...I read it and then delete...don't need to clutter my email box with a 100 or so forwards for ie.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics?
I have some tolerance for it.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time?
Shy at first...but then try to break the ice...getting to know them over time
...I'm referring now about peeps at my church. I have Asperger Syndrome high-functioning autism...a social disorder...so it does take me somewhat longer to get to know a new acquaintance and then down the road friend.

. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - Patient to a fault. But consistent always. My word is all I have to give someone, and I make sure it means something if I am going to use it. I rarely swear, but anger and frustration still show when it is there.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?- The older I get, the more blessed I feel. I love that part of being my age. In things that I do these days in my life, I am both given great respect and receive more than I deserve. I can quiet an entire roomful of people when I begin to speak....and while I don't understand that, I have surely come to appreciate it.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- Most people see me as having a narrow personality with clearly defined limits. But they know I enjoy a good joke, a laugh in the face of frustration or anger, and while I won't ever initiate potty-humor, I can sometimes laugh so hard at it that I can't catch my breath.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?- Angry; the mistreatment of kids either verbally or physically in a public place by their parents. Sad; that some people are so angry in their lives that days and weeks and years can go by without them ever appreciating a single sunrise. Happy; when my granddaughter Emma says "I Love You Papa" before she hangs up the phone.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? - Aside from unsolicited sales calls, I try hard to respond. Sometimes writing is better than a call. Sometimes calling works. Sometimes looking someone in the eye is the only way even if their message came as an email.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- Life is a journey that requires a real commitment. For those who make commitments to me and to our company at work, I see the need for some goofing around and other antics as a sign of their confidence and happiness in being there. There is a time for focus and a time for balance. They virtually all (33 employees now) know where that line is without me ever saying a word.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? - I am not a great conversationalist. People see me as guarded and a little unapproachable. I am friendly and offer a smile and bold handshake...but it is the other person who, after I set that tone, generally either loosens me up or keeps me at bay.

Re: Describe yourself-Are you nice or mean?
Interesting thread, Jason! Here are some of my thoughts:
1. How would you describe yourself? Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair?
I'm the eternal optimist! I'm also easygoing, pleasant, and strict (in my profession as a college English instructor) but fair. Also, although I'm not a "believer" in astrology, my personality exhibits the characteristic of my horoscope sign, Cancer, quite strongly, "warts and all."
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?
YES, YES, YES! LIFE IS GOOD. I have unshakable faith that the whole universe is lined up to make my life better and better each day.
ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE BORN WITH THE SAME INNATE CAPABILITY FOR GOODNESS AND THE SAME BASIC WANTS AND NEEDS, SUCH AS LOVE, SECURITY, AND A "GOOD LIFE." Therefore, I respect the inner core of humanity in all human beings, even those whose choices/actions are irrational, misguided, and just plain horrendous. If I can behold that positive (spiritual) nature in all human beings, I believe I can encourage positivity in all human beings: what we concentrate on grows and flourishes.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?
I have an strong sense of humor, which I rely on constantly! Over the years, I have learned the difference between and destructiveness of sarcasm, as opposed to humor. Humor that is not disrespectful or belittling is an essential key to self-happiness and to cooperation among people. I believe if I can't laugh at myself, I'll never get past silly mistakes I may make which take away energy from my positivity.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?
For me, anger and sadness are counter-productive. I prefer to spend the energy on emphasizing positive problem-solving and envisioning the world the way it can be. Philosophically, gratitude, respect, faith, and positivity make me happy. Practically, my family, my profession, my home, and my hobbies make me happy.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you, or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it?
Re phoning, thank goodness for caller ID and voicemail! Re emails, I have a "usual gang" of forward-buddies to whom I reply if I really want to comment on something they've sent. Similarly, two or three times a year I sent out a note encouraging those buddies to let me know if they'd rather not receive my forwards.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics?
IMO, taking life too seriously is just as harmful as not taking life too seriously. If I profess to respect the individuality of others, I try to respect their work ethic, as well. If I don't agree with that behavior -- at work, for example -- it's my choice/responsibility to change the situation.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time?
I try avoid the "all-about-me" pattern of conversation, first finding a topic of common ground and then drawing out that person's "story." Since I'm not in the dating/hooking up phase of life, that whole awkwardness/flirtation stuff doesn't enter the picture!
OK -- who's next?

3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- I'm know for a quick wit and a sense of humor at the oddest times. I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?- Really angry is seeing other people unfairly treated. Sad is seeing innocent lives taken or ruined. Happy is time spent with my children.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? - THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY. I did not e-mail people I e-mail without a purpose. I think not replying is very rude indeed. DITTO
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- Judging from most members on this board, I think a lot of you goof around but at the same time are very very responsible, which is exactly the way to be. DITTO

Re: Describe yourself-Are you nice or mean?
jason0509 wrote:I've been meaning to post this for a while now but I'm just curious as to:

7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? - I am shy at first but want to be friends with them.
Well, that's about it. I eagerly await some responses.
1. I think I am too nice. I let people walk all over me and I shouldn't. I think I am bi-polar. I have severe mood swings at times. I can be laughing one minute and crying the next. I am too emotional.
2. No, I am not that happy with my life right now. I am lazy and I wish that I wouldn't be. I should of been more goal oriented. Should of went to college, got my degree in journalism like I planned to do so. But, did not do it because I was so negative thinking I was going to fail. Instead, I am stuck at a dead end job barely able to pay my bills and at 29 years old, still living at home with my parents. That is depressing. I should of quit goofing around, finished my degree, got a good paying job, got my own place, and been married and started a family by now. I won't be able to move out until I am 40 at this rate.
3. I have a pretty good sense of humor when I am in the mood. I can be funny and like to joke around. But, I also suffer from depression and get quick mood swings.
4. Angry-people who treat me like crap (my old boss), people who lie, talk stuff about you behind your back, I can't stand 2 faced people, men who cheat or are abusive. Sad- losing the people I love (my grandma, and my dog I am still grieving heavily over.) Anytime someone dies, I grieve for a long time. Being lonely nearly all the time. Happy-being with my friends, and my cousin and her kids.
5. I will reply to phones, e-mails, etc... But, don't expect to get a response right away unless I feel like it. Or if I know it might be something important. I am not much of a phone person. I much rather talk to people in person.
6.Goofing off-there is a time for everything. I like to goof off at times, but also there is a time to be serious. And I don't like people goofing off at serious times.
7. Meeting someone for the first time-I am usually shy at first and can't think of anything good to say. I have anxiety problems. But, if I like you, you can't shut me up after that. I pretty much treat everyone the way they treat me.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - I am really easy-going, but I have a tendency to make sure everyone is included in things, even if it means bending some rules or twisting some arms a tad.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?- I am satisfied with life as it is. I have utmost respect for others.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- My humor is actually pretty good (well, it does make people groan alot
) Even in dark times, humor can be used to lighten the mood and cut tension
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?-
Angry -- It takes a long while to get me angry... but I guess one could be cheating
Sad -- Having a friend in trouble or seeing someone left out
Happy -- Being around friends and seeing everyone involved
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? -
Yes.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics- I have a lot of tolerance... just know I get scared easily
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? - I meet them and try to get them involved in something. Too many times have I see new people walk around and be alone...

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair?
I am pretty laid back, unless the situation dictates otherwise. Enjoy life, you only go around once. (Anal retentive people annoy me.)
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it?
I have a wonderful life, and I can't think of a thing I would change.
I feel respect is earned, but politeness should be used all the time. I detest rude people.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life
I have permanent laugh lines on my face! We have to live the life we were given regardless. Why not inject as much humor as possible into the years god gave us on earth, and not waste it being unhappy.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy
Mistreatment of others makes me angry. The me, me, me attitude that is prevalent in todays society makes me sad. Happy is family, friends, a good laugh, and a large fish tugging back at the end of the line.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it?
I always reply.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics?
I love a good joke, and life should be fun. I recognize when humor is not appropriate, but all other times are fair game.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time?
Polite and friendly, unless their actions dictate otherwise.

Just turned 29 two and half weeks ago. Only if I can get a grant where they pay 100% my way including books. Money is the problem right now. And I don't want to take out a loan that will take years to pay back.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Most of the time I am quite easy-going and pleasant. However, as all of us could likely witness to, I do have my "days". I do try to keep my "days' either in private or covered up.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it? Tough one! I am marginally happy with my life, but I feel I can do so much more (sociallize). I am VERy happy I have a career goal (Journalism). I do give respect to those that earn it, and in return, I expect respect when I deserve it.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life? When I am in a good mood, I can crack some jokes (pretty lame ones at that, but...
) . I especially love to give my dad a hard time sometimes!
When things are down, I try my best to be positive, but sometimes that is VERY difficult.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?I become angry when people annoy me, complain about every little thing, and, when at work, think that I am going to do THEIR dirty work all the time when they just stand around goofing off! :
Sadness comes about when I think aboutsomething that was emotionally big in my past. Though I used to get emotional over a particuarly relationship (her name started with an "E" and a hurricane is named after her at the moment), I laught at it now!
Happiness pops up when things are going relatively smoothly, everyone that I care about is happy, and I am at S2K!
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? Frankly, I hardly ever get phone calls (I don't even own a cell phone; don't really need one). Sometimes I will get e-mails and Instant Messages from family.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics-
It depends on circumstances. If it is at work, customers are around and it is busy, I get annoyed when people go overboard with goofing off, but if the environment is calm, I can get a bit goofed off as well.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time?
It depends on my mood, I must admit!

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair?

Angry - abuse of any kind to people or animals, and see #1 above.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? I try to be easygoing and plesant, but my mil would disagree.
Whew! Don't even go there!!!
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it? The older I get, the happier I become with my life. The trials of life help me appreciate the good times that much more. I have respect for others, but if they verbally abuse me, I remind them that people in glass houses...
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life?- Happy - along the lines of fake bugs in ice cubes, in the right setting; with the right people. Angry - sarcastic. Depressed - I drown in comedies. Humor plays a big role in my life.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy?-
Angry - I agree, "abuse of any kind to people or animals".
Happy - An all expense paid trip to Disney World with my husband... anyone buying?
Honestly, time spent in the company of those I love.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it?
I have to reply.
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics?
Depends on the time and place, but I am pretty tolerant.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? I am a nervous wreck, so I may come across as aloof when i am really just intensely shy. However, I strive to be polite.

1. How would you describe yourself. Would you consider yourself easygoing and pleasant? Or are you very strict and no-nonsense or very strict and fair? - While I like to think I am easygoing and friendly most of the time, I also have a no-nonsense attitude at times. This is especially true whenever I am running, as when I run, I can be pretty competitive. But otherwise, I value pleasing my friends as much as I can.
2. Are you happy with your life? Do you have respect for others or do you demand respect but not give it? - I am very happy with my life. I try to give a lot of respect to people, and I feel somewhat respected back.
3. What is your sense of humor like? Even in dark times, do you consider humor good or is humor something you like to eliminate as much as possible from your life? I always try to stay as upbeat as possible, so I very much have a sense of humor that is alive almost every day. As for dark times, I still try to stay upbeat, but sometimes, when times get really bad, it's difficult to have a sense of humor.
4. What makes you really angry? What makes you sad? What makes you happy? I am angered by people who don't get along and by people who don't like that I try to stick up for myself. I am saddened by war, violence, pandemics, and mass deaths in our world. What makes me happy is when people admit their mistakes or change for the better.
5. If someone phones, instant messages you or e-mails you, do you consider it a necessity to reply or do you only reply if you feel like it? I always feel it is important to respond back to anything (unless it comes from someone who I haven't gotten along with in the past).
6. How much tolerance do you have for goofing around and antics? It depends on what people are goofing around with. If it's just card games and normal jokes, I am all for it, and I even do those types of things at times. But I HATE goofing off when it comes to drugs, alcohol, and sex. Unpopular for my age (21), but I stick by it.
7. How do you treat someone you are just meeting for the first time? I try to find out early if I can get along with and be friends with a person I meet for the first time. While I generally get along with everyone, sometimes there's just a rotten egg.
