In my opinion the oblong shape of the CDO in the last few frames is the storm encountering the new ridge over the Gulf after popping out from under Jamaica. This, combined with a sustaining veer left, suggests the new ridge is oriented further south in track.

If I am totally wrong Emily needs to pull NW quickly in order to return to NHC track.

floater clearly shows a sustained 280 heading the last 3-4 hours. Im taking corpus and north off the hook.

but retain the right to rehook them if needed.

Na, i wouldnt take them off the hook until she is inland. Anything can happen its the 05 SEASON :wink:

If anything, it is further into an arc west in the last frame.


Easily visible on ANY IR loop.


We could have a serious shift south here and not a wobble.

It possibly could be the west extension of the ridge over the Gulf picking it up and sending it more south. An oblong CDO is a hint of such an encounter...

Or, it could be a huge wobble - but I don't think so for the reasons above...

If it were encountering such a powerful ridge wouldnt its northern outlflow be squashed a bit?
