Coming closer to Cayman than previously thought

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

of course the beaches are still smashed, they got 50 foot waves.

I'll ask her what parts of Cayman she is referring to

I say TWC has a very compact IQ.

Emily had hurr winds to 70nm and TS to 140nm last night -- I have no idea where Bob Stokes gets the impression that's comparable to microcane Cyclone Tracy.

if Bob Stokes said that, Bob Stokes should be fired for stupidity.

Tracy basically had the wind field of a very large tornado. You either were in the eye wall, or NOTHING happened. No wind or anything, not even rain

He certainly did say it, several times this afternoon. Realize also that unless TWC is a one-horse shop most of the time, there had to be several OTHER people hanging around, any one of whom could have stepped up and said, "Nope, those National Guard documents are clearly fakes!" (One imagines Stokes isn't the guy who whipped up all the charts & pics, either.)

I'll be blunt: TWC went downhill upwards of ten years ago when they stopped putting on ugly old guys who knew what the hell they were talking about, and got on the politically-correct hiring-quota bandwagon. Lyons is about the only guy left worth listening to, and I get the impression he doesn't even care much anymore.

That whole place should fire itself: A big circle of people each pointing at the twit on their left, and then jerking their right thumb over their shoulders, bellowing, umpire-like, "Yer *oughta* here!"

I was watching TWC when he compared Emily to Tracy. I about fell over. I was like "Where did this guy get his education from???"

Even I know that Emily is much larger...

One wonders how it is even possible to even know of Tracy without knowing of its particulars -- since its particulars are the reason it's remembered. And who, at TWC, doesn't have the NHC's Discussion page bookmarked on their laptop just like you and I do, and remembers what last night's recon-report wind-radii in Emily were?

I can only conclude that Stokes is just a talking-head, i.e., a blow-dried commentator who merely reads a teleprompter written by someone else who's either completely scramble-brained or a passed-over-promotion employee out to sabotage his own own unworthy employer.

That's totally not true with regard to the track. They have been remarkably dead on with that the whole way. The "fits" I assume you to be referring to is the intensity, but they seem to have a real strong handle on its movement and have had just about the whole time, except for a more westerly motion than they predicted early on.
