>>I was posting over at hurricanecity for a while and kept hearing from jimw, greatone, et al. of how HORRIBLE Storm2K was.
I remember that. One of the knocks was that you'd fit in fine if you were into moving cartoon character avatars. Heh.
But they did have a legitimate criticism back then. There was a lot of affirmations of other posters to the point that it was kind of ridiculous. In other words, some of what was said didn't need to be echoed in the same thread by 10 different people (often mods). Obviously with the influx of dozens (if not hundreds) of new posters, that has become far less frequent around here. Unfortunately my home board succumbed to that very same problem. They added 5 or 6 mods (mostly good guys). But whenever a pro met like Dunham would post something, you'd get a chain of people telling him how great his forecast or words were even though they were yet to verify. I found that annoying here back then and there now. The worst offender there (who I will not name) would post "Thanks Ed. You said it better than I could" type of stuff.
No big deal I guess, just a personal pet peeve.

PBI. It wasn't possible to find a civilized intelligent discussion there anymore. I wondered where all the people I had gotten used to seeing and appreciating had gone (I'm a 98% lurker, 2% poster). Then someone in a discussion about the board going downhill posted about this board. I followed the link, and here I am.
