Got a message from NWS.

The satellite receive center in Wallops Island suffered a power hit.

Time to restore data transmission unknown.

They are deploying the hurricane weakening laser thats onboard the satellite. They have to disable the imaging equipment to conserve power.

I've driven by the field full of antenna dishes at Wallops many times when I go fishing...(It's actually on Chincoteague Island itself.)

So was there a loss of power to the whole region or just to the Island or just with one of the dishes? Did one of the dishes get hit by lightning or something?

The message said that they took a power hit at the facility due to storms in the area.

It appears the storm has stalled for the last 2 hours... might be a direction change...
