I wonder how my friend on her honeymoon in Jamaica is doing. I wonder if they stay in the resort, or evacuate them inland? Anyone know where to get any reports from Jamaica?

Well, winds there are only supposed to reach tropical storm force... Hurricane at the highest peaks. I wouldn't worry TOO much, unless she's in an area that floods easily...

That's what I was figuring, but last night on the local news in Houston, they were saying that US government employees in Jamaica were being evacuated, so I thought maybe it was worse than I thought. On the other hand, the press always seems to exaggerrate.

edited to add:

OK, I found the actual government report, and of course, the news DID get it wrong. People were not being evacuated, but were given *authorization* to leave. rather big difference there.
