No, it does not appear Emily will be a threat to us. Emily is not the one for us here in southeast Louisiana. But, remember we have Aug-Oct when the season really gets cranking. September-Oct. have brought Louisiana some big hurricanes. Betsy on Sept 9th. Lili on Oct 3. Don't forget the big one of 1909, 1926 or Famous Last Island Hurricane of 1856. Just be ready all season long.

That was probably before he saw the new model outputs.
He may change his tune tomorrow if this rightward trend continues.

From the way things look as of now, the gulf coast will be under the gun, although so far it does not point at LA, rather TX. Breck needs to stop making such final conclusions about storms when they are so far out.

I do too. His weather program had so many "Firsts" (computer graphics, etc.) it was unbelievable.

I thought I had seen an article on him in the T-P a few years back saying that he had property up in Washington Parish he retired to.

That was my understanding. Last storm he forecasted was Georges. Spot-on, IIRC.

Spot on if you count drawing 5 lines ranging from Apalachicola to Houston!!! Why do so many New Orleanians forget this? I have the tape to prove it...wish I could post it online. Nash may have had his day in previous years, but he did NOT do well in the '90s. He also said that Danny would NOT become a hurricane the day before it moved over Grand Isle as a hurricane. Additionally, in 1995, he drew Hurricane Erin on his map just south of Mobile Bay as it was moving into Pensacola (again, there is tape to prove it). I'm not trying to rip a guy that's retired and worked hard to earn respect, but he was very overrated in his latter years simply because of his simplistic technicques. His accuracy was not good and he often made up his own coordinates different from the Hurricane Center! Most of you would hang a met if effigy today if they made up their own coordinates.

And I hate to say it...but if you could have an honest conversation with the mets that worked with him in the '90s, they would tell you the same thing.

It's odd for me to think of Bob Breck still doing the weather in N.O. He was doing weather down there when we moved there when I was 14 years old, and I am turning 39 in September! Nash Roberts was still on the air back then as well.

OTOH, the popular TV mets tend to hang on for ages in many markets. Dave Brown, who was the bog weather guru when I was growing up in Memphis during the 1970's, is still on the air.
