It will weaken significantly by the time it gets there.

Ummm it's actually predicted to get increasingly stronger. Look at the forecast.

Did you expect any other response though!

Remember that according to Scorpion, Emily was going to weaken back to a TS last night after just attaining hurricane strength.

Shanghai doesnt get hit by strong typhoons. If they do, do you think it would still be a bustling city?

Typhoons are a fact of life there. I wouldnt be too concerned. They hit China ALL the time.

I don't mean to sound confrontational, but just because they hit China quite often, it doesn't mean that the damage or loss of life gets any lower. Each storm, especially one forecasted to be this strong deserves concern.

Yeah, I just thought Typhoons didn't hit there. Now they're a fact of life!

Looks like it will go inland west of Shanghai.

That's really good reasoning. San Francisco doesn't get strong earthquakes either, nor does Oklahoma City get strong tornadoes. Oh, and south Florida doesn't get strong hurricanes either. Just look how much that area has grown. Impossible, I say!

As you can see on that map its curving already before making landfall and it will go just barley west of Shanghai putting them in the Right Front Quadrant or the worst Quadrant of the Storm.

Well, none of us have ever heard of a storm with falling pressures imminently dying, but thats what you said last night.

Theres a good 100 miles of land the eye has to go over before it closes in on Shanghai. That could significantly weaken it.

just a question?

in a typhoon, is the wind strongest in the north east quadrant? Or is it the Southwest?

I would think the opposite since it spins in the other direction.

Its still in the Northeast quadrant I would assume, since they are still Northern Hemisphere storms.

Storms in the southern hemisphere spin in the opposite direction.
