NCBird is located in New Bern. Looking at radar they are getting slammed there! They have been having tons of rain there. Tried to get ahold of her but she wasn't available. Will be interested to hear how this affected her crops and the what the next door neighbor planted also.
Hope they are ok.

This isn't Ivan.
We're here to learn from each other, teach each other, and support each other. There's no reason why HalloweenGale couldn't ask a legitimate question like that. After all, you said yourself, "do a little research." That's what HG was doing by asking us here.
Thanks Duck. I thought that remark was a little uncalled for but didn't feel it was my place to say so.

Strange weather day in southeastern NC. We had thunderstorms converge from the south and the north over Carteret Co. NWC issued a tornado warning at 1:25. I got on here to check if anyone else thought there was an odd rotation going on off the coast......... Winds in Onslow Co. were strong enough to break a large branch off of one of my trees. It'll be interesting to watch and see if anything is brewing or not.

I just had a severe t-storm here in Ayden, strong winds with this one, unlike the rain storm that passed through an hour or so ago. Only good thing is the ground is sucking this moisture right up, normally with the inch or so I've gotten in the past hour my yard would have standling puddles (if not Lake My Back Yard.) Storm just passed and the ground has only small puddles, they will probably be gone in an hour.

Does this mean the surfaces winds are greater than 42Knts off the coast of NC ? Look at the key at the bottom of the image

I saw that on radar! The two line crossed each other and formed an X right over the MHX (Newport) Doppler site.
It was quite a storm. I am about 2 miles from the Newport NWS site, on the mainland, next to the sound. Local law enforcement said that they saw water spouts off Emereld Isle (they neglected to say if they were in the sound or the ocean), and one of the most impressive lightening and thunder storms I have ever seen or heard down here. But the rain was the most imprssive. I don't have a rain gauge, but my front yard was a lake, and I had two good sized stream flowing down to the sound. Started about 5 hours ago (ended about 3 hours ago) and now things are starting to dry up. No more streams, and the "lake" in my front yard is now just puddles.
I know that I probably should not be watching TWC, but they did point out those storms and said that they were related to Dennis (at least the one moving from West to East). Seems like a bit of a stretch to me, but also said that rain in Florida was also related to Dennis.
