nah, they just took off, they are taking obs on the way up, looks like

edit: Not sure why, mind you, I've never seen this report before...

They took off from Puerto Rico, so maybe, they get in their in time to give obs for 8am advisory.

Actually, all recon planes take MINOBS during the entire flight. These observations give a great idea of where the plane is since each bulletin is sent every ten minutes and contains observations every 30 seconds.

Another point about the MINOBS... they come in a lot quicker than standard RECCOs and VORTEX messages. Therefore, you can get an idea of the storm quicker and you can see what the flight level winds are as they're flying. Typically when I'm following a recon mission, I'll plot the winds and coordinates on a satellite image that I've printed off. That helps a great deal on understanding the storm.

with your earlier decode, I can almost decode those in my head, heh...pretty easy to read versus some of the other poop they send out, aka supplemental, heh
