AP Scores

#1 Postby Swimdude » Tue Jul 12, 2005 1:00 pm

All right, heaven knows if there are ANY other high school students on the S2K boards... I can think of MAYBE one or two. Anyway, Advanced Placement test scores came in today! First of all, let me explain what these are, for those who don't know... A long story short, they're a test you prepare for, all year. You take an advanced class, and at the beginning of May, you take a gruelingly long test - the AP test.

Scores are from 1-5. 1/2 is failing. 3-5 is passing. Different colleges accept different scores. Anyway, I made a '2' on the World History test as a sophomore...

Tests from last year [Junior year] came in the mail today.

US HISTORY - 3
ENGLISH LANGUAGE - 4

Anyone else get their scores this week? :D

Way to go!! Do these classes qualify for college credit?

Kim <-- too old to have had classes like this available when I was in school, but not old enough that my kids are in those kinds of classes yet LOL.

Hehehe yes, they do. Well, it depends. Some colleges accept 3-5. Others only 4 and 5. And... then there's the very few that accept only 5's... Or none at all. [Mostly those IV League schools that I couldn't get into even if I wished to. Hehe.]

Are these like the CLEP tests I took prior to entering college? This was a few years back, well, like 1978 (Where has the time went?)

You had five different tests, and if you scored high enough, you could CLEP some or all of the subjects, i.e. you didn't have to take those courses in your freshman year but still got the credit. It sure gave me a jumpstart on college!

And congrats on the scores!

Coppertop is NO hurry...he (rightly, IMHO) needs some life experience through working, reinforcing his ethical base, preparing his mind and body through Tae Kwon Do and his faith in Our Lord.

THEN, he'll take on college; he wants to become a Tae Kwon Do Master and bi-vocational pastor, running his own dojong but inculcating Christian teachings, as he believes that doing so would be his "ministry".

And, ladies and gentlemen, that ain't bad. :larrow:

I took one college class in High School (college english.... thank goodness I did, otherwise I would have to take the remedial english class, and then the other succession of english classes that were required for graduation at UWGB. I went right to the second level of english classes.
