This storm has been south of west since I went to sleep late last night.

Heading around 267*. Center latitude presently near 11.2

Weak trough feature off US had zero effect. Emily went underneath it. If anything it enhanced the Atlantic ridge driving Emily south.

It's too early to tell. The Ridge appears to be much stronger. So I would not rule out the Yucatan or Central America strike. It could possibly even dissapate. It's happened before. Earl 2004

The Caribbean graveyard could get this one since it isn't as deep as Dennis. Who knows? Rule of thumb is usually the closer it comes to South America, the greater the graveyard effect. My instinct says no though.

PS - People "trolling" threads with wobble remarks don't add to the quality of the discussion. The guiding synoptics are obviously what are important here.

Hmmm well, i'd be surprised if the NHC was predicting a cat. 3 [as it is], and this thing just dissipates.

Ummm, see the forecast for Earl last year. Predicted to be a Hurricane in the Gulf. Never made it.

Wouldn't surprise me if the thing is plowed into Central America.

Looking at models and current trends, this has a much better chance of being a Mexico or Yucatan landfall rather than Texas.

The ridge to its north is forecast to build, so I'm thinking Yucatan. Jamaica will get another scare too......MGC
