Would someone clue in The Weather Channel about beaches

#1 Postby mitchell » Tue Jul 12, 2005 11:26 am

After hearing Mike Bettes declare within hours of Dennis' landfall from Destin I believe "the beach is completely gone" I wanted to holler at the TV:

The tide is still up - the beach is UNDER WATER! Thats not the same as gone.
Much of the sand is carried offshore into bars and will recover within weeks. You can't possibly know how much of the sand is gone at that point.

For some reason TWC hyperbole is really starting to get annoying and the season is SO young.
