he can donate $1 to s2k for every mile he is off or $250 for each state away from landfall.

Oh, really? So, he is not predicting the mouth of the MS river? Insteresting! Even though, I do think Emily is looking more like a TX/LA hit.

A pretty straight shot into the Gulf looks likely for Emily right now. Whether that means Mexico or Texas or Louisiana I can't say yet.

I'm not ready to speculate about the second system. The notion that it's an east coast storm is reasonable, but I think it's going to be a couple of days at least before one can be confident about that call.

He was in a good mood this morning on his video. He didn't really talk a lot about Emily. He was more up beat about the one behind. I never heard him say anything about Texas, if anything he seemed to lean to a Central American hit. At least he didn't make a solid prediction as he usually does, but watch when he does because he seldom backs down from it.

Well, I agree that Emily is more likely a GOM storm; We don't have a Franklin to be a Florida storm. Until we have another storm there's nothing to discuss.

Saying a storm that isn't even close to existing could head to Florida is wreckless.

But its all done for ratings...

With J. B. left bias forecast (New Orleans for Dennis) maybe Louisiana needs to look out.

Where did you get this information from? Rather than blast ya, I'm gonna ask ya'. You've been bantering about some arrogant snippits over the past few days which I kinda blew off because I'm not the powers that be. So come clean with me and everyone else and tell us where you got that info. Me? I saw the video today and he was talking about a southern track through the warm water - maybe TX or MX. He didn't say exactly where, he presented model solutions for Emily. As for the F storm to-be, he's talking about a short-cut storm. That's not a Florida scenario. It's a SC/NC type storm.

You bash Bastardi all the time. Please don't tell me you're paying for the column, eh?

Steve:

Thanks for posting that. I see this all the time. I saw something with Dennis last week that had twisted Joe B's words around so much you would think he had it going into San Diego after looping around South America. No, it wasn't *quite* that bad but I do often see people post something that Joe B. "said" and 10 posts down the page it's something different.

I've been reading him for over 5 years now and I don't see where all these "invented" storms are people keep saying he peddles. For the most part it's looking at patterns and analogs and saying something like "watch the gulf next week b/c conditions will be ripe for something to spin-up, and that system located at X and Y looks like a prime candidate. And If model X verifies and there is still a trough over the Ohio Valley, then people in the NC Gulf should be on alert."

Next thing you know, someone calls him a quack because 'Joe Bastardi thinks next week New Orleans is going to be under 20 feet of water and wash out to sea'.

Not quite the case.....

And for all the naysayers, all of his posts are now being archived for all the world to see.

Well, I just watched the video, and I don't have any big argument with it except that he's calling the next wave "Franklin" already when development doesn't look like a sure thing at this moment. I didn't see him say either Texas or Florida, so I don't know where that came from.

It was refreshing to get through a whole video without any hint of eye-rolling or snide comments regarding NHC. If he stuck with that, I'd have no beef with the guy whatsoever.

Jan

EDIT: Of course, I'd still have a big beef with his employer, but that's another matter.
