This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Jan, you got serious issues with him, relax

I'll relax when he stops playing his little part in his employer's smear campaign against NOAA related to their effort at legalized theft on a monumental scale.

Interesting...the 11AM discussion somewhat deals...perhaps...with one of these digs you mention.

I PREFER TO FOLLOW THE BROADER SYSTEM AT THIS
TIME. THE POOR ORGANIZATION OF THE SYSTEM...AND DVORAK
CLASSIFICATIONS FROM TAFB AND SAB OF T2.0...ARE GOOD REASONS NOT TO UPGRADE THE DEPRESSION TO A TROPICAL STORM.

Nice catch. Nobody can argue with NHC with their track record recently.

True. But his ideas are usually pretty sound. Though I believe in freedom of speech, I think Accuweather and Bastardi should leave the end-game stuff to the TPC. His value is in the identification of threats and potential targets. But he should leave it at that. No way in hell Accuweather as an entity can compete with the NHC.

I must agree Steve. Joe B may be great with pattern recognition but the TPC really does well when they are in the trenches. They did a great job with Dennis.

That appears to be true ... but whether folks like it or not, he is the most known and well read meteorologist re: the tropics outside of TPC/NHC.

Accuweather is in the business to make money. Hype and drama can only get you so far ... sooner or later you have to back it up. He has -- for the most part -- over the years. If not, they would have dumped him a long time ago.

Is anyone else getting tired of all of these constant discussions on Joe B?

Post what he says along with everyone else's forecasts, and we can all make our own decisions who to believe.

There is no need to crusade for or agsinst the guy (Or the NHC, or others for that matter)

Yup. You're right, I agree. I guess I felt I had to say something after reading some of the bombastic posts in the thread.

Well, I would love to do that. But every time I go watch his video because someone has posted something about what he said and I want hear his exact words so I can comment, I get treated to another set of little snide comments, jabs, chuckles and eye-rolls aimed ait NHC by him, and I get angry all over again. If he would just quit with that crap, I'd be delighted to stick to his meteorological reasoning, but as long as he and his employer are engaged in this crap, I'm going to fight it because what they're up to is relly, really wrong.

oh come on Jan, relax
they're great, he is very entertaining and i love to watch him :)
Jan do you realize with all your Anti Joe B Rhetoric, you could just be turning more people on to him? You know the ole saying, "There's no such thing as bad publicity". People will want to know who he is, those that don't and that in turn may even make him MORE popular!
I bet your Chomping at the Bits over that possibility eh? lol

Sen. Santorum is the real culprit by just trying to push his maligned bill through.

I don't have that kind of influence, Duffy. What I do have is a (low) opinion of his behavior, and a (far lower) opinion of his employer's behavior. And never having been a believer in the theory that wrongs will simply go away if one ignores them, I'm going to express that opinion.

Live with it.

Clearly this is a case of big corporate power vs. the common man (in this case the common man is NHC). In order for Accuweather to get some backing for the Sen. Santorium bill they know they have to give us the outrageous then hope and pray the end result will be in their favor. That is the ONLY way they will get ANY support from the "little man" (which is us). But as I see it, it is failing miserably. If Dennis had gone to Louisiana like he had predicted and the NHC had stayed on the Panhandle track, just think how different this discussion would be today! JB is the best Accuweather has and they will play him and manipulate him anyway they can. JB is just a pawn in the Accuweather game for control. JB is Accuweather's hurricane "HOund". If you know what I mean!

We shouldn't be naming storms or refering to them as a named storm until they are OFFICIALLY designated as such.

Let's try to avoid doing this and refer to them as their TD# for now. Thanks!

I don't hate anyone, Duffy. I was forced to give up that luxury some time ago. Why do you assume that expressing strong opposition to things he and his employer are saying and doing neccesarily involves hate?
