Anyone have a weather report for Escambia County Alabama?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Anyone have a weather report for Escambia County Alabama?

#1 Postby jdray » Sun Jul 10, 2005 3:52 pm

Im having problems finding any wind gauges/etc for this area.

My wife's grandparents live about 45 minutes north of Pensacola and would like some kind of report for that area to pass along to her family here.

NOAA doesn't have a wind gauge in the area. Of course phones are down.
Her grandparents are pretty hardy people, but still would like to find something out.

They just announced on TWC winds of 99 mph in Santa Rosa. That was all they said. No damage reports yet as I flipped between TWC, CNN and MSNBC.

Actually, there is an Escambia County, Alabama, and an Escambia County, Florida...I'd always double-check my facts before calling someone wrong.

That area is going through the NW eyewall currently. Probably seeing sustained winds of 75-95mph with gust over 100mph

Oh...maybe I didn't read your post correctly...You didn't say he was wrong, just that Escambia County was in Florida (implying that it was not in Alabama). I guess you meant to say "The is also an Escambia County in Florida!"

Possible tornado near Malta... Freedomville at 4:40, I-65 and Highway 1 by 4:45

Just typing what's being read on WSFA-TV Montgomery right now.

Likely hurricane force winds in the eyewall coming up through the county.

thanks Jeff. My mother-in-law still hasnt heard word yet, but they rode out Ivan decently (other than losing 2 vehicles and every tree in their yard due to a tornado). Im hoping everything is OK with them.....

My wife let her mother know the wind speeds, some news is better than no news.
