Listen, I'm not making light of the seriousness of the storm. I'm making light of the seriousness of the speculation over the wobbles. Yeah, they matter. But how does the speculation matter at this point? People either evacuated or they didn't. They're either prepared, or they aren't. All the speculation in the world is not going to change the outcome. He's going to go where he goes.

Spoken like someone who does not own beachfront property. Sure...we evacuated, but it would be nice to know that we'll not be homeless in a few hours...I think this is the ONLY TIME that wobbles matter...so we're going to talk about them.

My home was destroyed by Alecia. I know how it feels, and I am entirely sympathetic to your worrying. Please don't misconstrue my comment as insensitivity. I am also a member of the American Red Cross disaster response team so, unfortunately, I will likely be in the middle of the carnage this monster creates no matter where it lands. I feel for your property, but you chose to build/buy property in a hurricane zone. My primary concern is for people, rather than property. My job is to try to save lives and render aid to those who either didn't--or couldn't--get out of the way. Regardless of the wobbles, Dennis is going to profoundly affect many lives in the coming hours.

PLEASE:

There is absolutely NO NNE component to the movement.

I've scanned the radar and the most east this will landfall is Navarre.

East Santa Rosa looks about right.

I seriously doubt any hook turn will occur without a flat edge to the storm on the NW quadrant...

Max Mayfield on CNN just stated that the storm has jogged n-ly slightly but that's it. No NNE jog as of yet though the storm will continue to wobble as it nears the shore. However, every n-ly wobble helps P'cola more though it makes it worse for Ft. Walton Beach and Destin.

What a totally tactless and uncompassionate statement to make at this time. What danger-free part of the world do YOU live in?

Yeah, I show my compassion by spending weeks on end away from my family, living in unbearable heat and being eaten alive by mosquitos when hurricanes destroy a community. How exactly do you show yours?

I have family in the path of the storm in Niceville besides my friends here at S2k. I will tell you all as a mod right now to STOP THE SENSELESS BICKERING about who is and isn't compassionate, etc. Otherwise we will begin taking actions as we deem them necessary to stop it.

Thank you Mr. Moderator. As someone in Pensacola I must say that Hurricanes have reached all the way up the east coast to New York and All along the gulf coast.

BTW, local channel 3 tv has meteorlogist interviewing a somewhat local expert who has access to apparently great tools. Dennis is now 34 NM due south of Navarre from the center. Unless we have a dramatic chance looks like Navarre will be the center. He thinks it is moving at 350 degrees right now.
