Dennis makes 5 hurricanes to hit Florida within 1 year...

4 storms made a tie with a record approx 100 years old (last season), but this blows it away. 5 to hit one state all within a span of 1 year.

Keeping the folks in the panhandle and westward in my thoughts.

If it makes landfall in FL, still could technically be Bama.

I was just thinking about that. I don't know if anyone keeps records on most hurricanes in a 12-month span, covering two seasons, but I'm sure someone here could dig it up.

Well, technically Ivan was in Alabama, if you want to split hairs.

A notch west and Ivan, Arlene, and Dennis will landfall in the same spot within 10 months. Add Frances and Jeanne on the east coast and a weird double strike pattern becomes apparent...

Exactly.

Florida had three landfall last year, heavily influenced by Ivan,
and now Dennis. Even if he hits Alabama, he's raked the whole state
of Florida from the keys to Pensacola.
