Misinformation...sad very sad...

#1 Postby Guest » Sun Jul 10, 2005 10:03 am

The news media all accross the board has been providing so much misinformation from storm movement, forward speed, ...etc. Have been swapping between channels and it is truely sad. If werent for the fact you guys and gals are like family and stay up to snuff on the tropics I wouldnt have a supporting voice out there. It just reinforces the fact that ya'll are the best and I truely appreciate everyone on this board being commited to providing factual info.

The fact they even use their own numbers even DIRECTLY after the NHC releases a product is just pure idiocy. What is the point of the NHC if you make it up yourself anyway? :(

The media are not scientists. They aren't going to be reporting everything accurate because they don't even have understanding of situation like we do. But I don't think they passing so much misinformation that's it's hurting the public. I think most are getting the idea that a major hurricane is headed their way.

That is why they should only be passing on what the NHC says... and mabye extrapolate "IDEAS" into that, but not change the data!

The mets on our 2 local stations have been pretty good about presenting both the NHC info and tracks, as well as their own observations about storm movement. The ABC affiliate has a streaming video link on their home page at http://www.wmbb.com/
